I woke up this morning at it was 38 degrees outside. On May 10th. I hear it's going to be just as cold overnight tonight. I may be taking in my strawberry pot tonight.
Yesterday I added the compost, worked it in to the top 8 inches of soil and then covered the whole bed with a layer of 4 mil clear plastic. I'm hoping that the soil will warm up using this method. My mother thinks that I'm creating a green house for the seeds that inevitably have landed in there during the crazy wind storms we had all weekend. Oh well, we'll see what happens.
I really want to plant this coming weekend. The following weekend I have a wedding cake to make (and attend the wedding!) . Once everything is planted, I can stop the daily craziness of making sure each pot is watered and turned, and protected against wind and cold, etc.
