Something is happening to my tomato plants. Some flowers have started to break off the vines. I don't know WTF is happening to them. Also, a whole branch fell off one of my celebrity plants. Now the tomatoes that were hanging near there are suseptable to sun scald. Lovely. My mom thinks maybe the chippies (aka chipmunks) are climbing the plants. I'll kill those suckers. I'll build a damn ugly cage around the whole garden bed.
The peppers, however, are freaking AWESOME. Tons of flowers and baby peppers.
The strawberry plant has re-flowered and I plan to bring it in the house by the end of the week. No strawberries for the chippies. It may be my imagination, but it looks like the flowers (and resulting fruit) are bigger than the first "wave". I've watched the bees do their pollination thing, but there are a few more flowers that need to bloom and pollinate before i bring the plant inside to protect from thieves.

I wish our strawberry plants would reflower!
Good luck with the tomato plants. I hope you can fix it so the critters leave it alone!
I've never heard of sun scald. I thought tomatoes needed sun all day. We have a large tomato plant that we are keeping on the deck and it's in the sun most of the day. I hope it'll be fine!
Oh, it should be fine Debbie. I've read that nature puts some leaves above each flower cluster to shield it from too much sun. Who knows though??? We'll just have to wait and see. One of my heirloom tomato plants has now reached the top of my 6 foot post. I've read that you really don't need to stake that variety, but I'm afraid not to... I don't know how I'll build upon the stake that's already there, or even if I should. It's only the end of June and it's already 6 feet tall... I'll need a ladder to harvest in August.
